North’s Mathematics program is the largest and most comprehensive community college math transfer program in the Puget Sound area, with a high student completion rate and a strong history of successful transfers to the UW, University of Illinois, NYU, UCLA and other 4-year institutions.

Flexible Scheduling, Strong Faculty & Excellent Tutoring
Choices of daytime, evening and Saturday math classes will fit your personal/work schedule. Classes are small, with highly qualified instructors who represent a broad spectrum of ethnicities. You’ll have access to lecture-based and online instruction to address the way you learn best. There’s also a strong peer tutoring program in the Math Learning Center, at no cost to students. And 4 of North's 200-level math courses transfer as 300-level to the UW and other 4-year colleges and universities.
Statewide Grant Funds Pre-college Math
From spring 2010 into 2013, North’s Math department reeived $120,000 for a project intended to improve outcomes for pre-college math students — increasing the passage rates in developmental math courses (currently 63 percent) and increasing the progression rate of students from pre-college to college-level math (currently only 28 percent).
The project used the results of quarterly assessments in pre-college level math courses to guide professional development and instructional training. Most math faculty and faculty in several related disciplines (such as biology, economics and psychology) were involved in the project. Faculty collaboratively designed contextualized assignments using real-world examples and inquiry-based problem-solving methods to reinforce the most commonly troublesome content areas at each level of developmental math.
