The new math placement test will begin December 7, 2016.
As of November 30, 2016, the COMPASS placement test has been discontinued nationally. Our new English Placement test—Wonderlic—began November 1, 2016.
The placement test fee is now $30 for a combined test fee—if the math and English placement tests are taken together, the cost is $30.
If taken separately:
- The math placement test cost is $30 per sitting.
- The English placement test cost is $30 per sitting.
COMPASS test scores for math are good for one year, and English scores are good for two years. If you need a printout of your COMPASS score, we are able to print your score going back to December 1, 2014.
Most students who are entering degree, certificate or college transfer programs at North Seattle College are required to take English and math placement tests.
Testing is also required for all other students who wish to enroll in English or math courses that list placement test scores as a prerequisite. (Check the online schedule for the listing of classes and their prerequisites.)
If you have placement test scores or coursework from other colleges, you may not need to test. Bring your placement test scores or college transcript with you when you attend a new student orientation or meet with an advisor. You may also check with the Testing Center about eligibility of external scores or past placement tests taken at North.
- The Testing Center provides testing for English and math placement (COMPASS), CASAS (ESL and ABE) and GED.
