Advancement and Foundations

The Seattle Colleges Office of Advancement coordinates fundraising efforts districtwide to advance the mission of Seattle Colleges (including North Seattle College, South Seattle College, and Seattle Central College). Advancement staff work directly with the institutionally-related Seattle Colleges Foundation to connect donors who want to impact student achievement and strengthen the Seattle community. Donors’ interests range from student scholarships and student support services to faculty development, high quality academic programs, and capital improvements.

Seattle Colleges Foundation

In 2018, the Office of Advancement launched the Seattle Colleges Foundation, a new institutionally-related nonprofit that emerged from a process of consultation and collaboration among the campuses comprising Seattle Colleges, each of which previously supported a separate foundation. The North Seattle College Education Fund merged with the Seattle Colleges Foundation in December of 2018.

The move to a single, unified foundation follows a prevailing national model for multiple-college districts adopting an integrated approach. It serves the philanthropic needs for each college as well as the Seattle Colleges District as a whole. With implemented structural changes, consolidated resources, improved coordination, and renewed strategy and alignment, we increase our overall fundraising capacity and efficiency. The Seattle Colleges Foundation is the official fundraising arm of Seattle Colleges, including North Seattle College. Learn more about and contact the Seattle Colleges Foundation.

North Seattle Community College Foundation

North Seattle College is fortunate to have additional philanthropic support from the North Seattle Community College Foundation (NSCCF), an independent, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Founded in 1986 (at that time North Seattle College was called North Seattle Community College), NSCCF promotes and supports the efforts of the college by directing proceeds to student scholarships, faculty grants and other academic programs for North Seattle College. The president of North Seattle College serves as the liaison between the college and this independent foundation.

American Financial Solutions (AFS) was initially created in 1999 as a pilot program of NSCCF and, later, developed into a division of NSCCF. The mission of AFS is to empower people to improve the quality of their live through financial education and counseling. AFS educates the general public on the proper use of credit, debt management and debt repayment options and offers a wide range of financial education services. These include in-depth credit counseling, counseling regarding student loans, educational seminars online and in the community, pre-bankruptcy counseling and debtor education, and housing counseling, including pre-purchase and foreclosure prevention.
