Associate in Science, Track 2 Engineering MRP
Engineering Major Related Program (MRP) Degrees are designed for students preparing to pursue these specific engineering majors at universities in Washington state:
- Bioengineering and Chemical Engineering
- Civil and Mechanical Engineering
- Computer and Electrical Engineering
Program Description
These three Engineering AS-T 2/MRP degrees prepare students for engineering majors in the pathways listed below and will give students basic skills needed by engineers and scientists. Students study mathematical and scientific principles with an emphasis on problem solving and critical thinking. Additionally, the program provides students with extensive laboratory work.
Credits earned with the AS-T 2/MRP degree at North Seattle College can be applied toward the first two years of a four-year bachelor’s degree in engineering. In addition to satisfying all or most prerequisites for a specific engineering major, students completing this degree will have fulfilled several general education requirements for the bachelor’s degree.

To earn the Engineering AS-T 2/MRP degree, students must:
Complete the minimum number of college-level credits (courses numbered 100 or above) listed for their degree, including credits transferred in, with a minimum cumulative college-level GPA of 2.0
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 in courses at the degree-granting college
- Earn at least 15 credits at the degree-granting college
- Have a minimum passing grade of 1.0 in all courses
- Apply to graduate
Other Notes:
- Courses may only be counted toward one requirement.
- Sequences should be completed at the same institution.
- Completion of degree does not guarantee admission to a university/major program nor that all university/major admission and general education requirements are met.
- Check the equivalency guide of the four-year institution where you plan to transfer to ensure the NSC VLPA or ICS course transfers as VLPA (Humanities) or ICS (Social Sciences) at that institution.
Contact the college where you plan to transfer to:
- Select courses to fulfill admission and major requirements at that institution.
- Ensure you meet all admission requirements, including, but not limited to: minimum GPA, a higher GPA in a selected subset of courses, and specific minimum grades or courses in English, math, lab science, world language, arts & humanities, and social science.
