About the Equity and Social Justice Pathway

This pathway meets requirements for the Associate of Arts (AA) degree with an emphasis in Equity and Social Justice. This sample schedule assumes a fall start. If you wish to take alternate courses not listed below please meet with a North advisor to confirm you're still meeting AA degree requirements.

This pathway meets requirements for the Associate of Arts (AA) degree with an emphasis in Equity and Social Justice. Completion of this degree opens doors to a variety of careers in sectors including social services, government, non-profit, education, media, law, and business. It also allows you to transfer into a social sciences or humanities major at a four-year college or university.

Students in this pathway develop skills in oral and written communication, critical thinking and problem solving, systems analysis, research design and planning, digital technology, collaboration, leadership, and intercultural fluency.

Associate Transfer Degrees

Associate Transfer Degrees: Two-year transfer degrees let you take your freshman and sophomore classes at Seattle Colleges for a fraction of the cost, and then transfer to a four-year university with the skills and confidence to succeed. Be sure to work with a transfer advisor at Seattle Colleges and the four-year institution you plan to attend.

Depending on your program pathway, you can earn either an Associate of Fine Arts, Associate of Arts (AA-DTA), Associate in Business (AB-DTA), or Associate of Science (AS), general,Track 1 or Track 2.

Future Education Opportunities

Once you complete the AA-DTA degree, additional education opportunities include:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, communication, ethnic studies, gender studies, history, interdisciplinary studies, international studies, journalism, political science, psychology, social welfare, or sociology.
  • A Bachelor of Applied Sciences (BAS) degree at one of the Seattle Colleges

North Seattle College has direct transfer agreements with four-year institutions throughout Washington state, including the University of Washington, Washington State University, and Seattle University. Communication Studies graduates from North have also transferred to out-of-state institutions.

Program and admissions requirements vary from college-to-college. Contact an advisor to create an educational plan tailored to transfer to the institution of your choice.

Length of Program

90 credits = 6 quarters if you take 15 credits each term.
