Course Pathways

This chart outlines how the mathematics courses offered at North Seattle College are intended to provide progress-pathways from foundational skills to more advanced topics.

Courses are grouped into two major categories: Pre-college, and College Level. Pre-college math courses are identified using course numbers below 100, while college-level courses are identified using numbers 100 and above.

Detailed information about each course, including currently scheduled quarters, is also available through the chart.

Math Course Sequence (Text Alternative)

This text describes prerequisite and co-requisite relationships among North Seattle College’s Math, Adult Basic Education (ABE), and Quantitative Symbolic Reasoning (QSR) courses. Courses are grouped by Pre-College Level Math, College Level Math, and Areas of Study as shown in the diagram.

Students should meet with their advisor or retention specialist to discuss the best Math option for their program or pathway and to create an education plan, based on placement. See who your advisor is in Starfish.

Students must earn an "S" grade to move from the pre-requisite to the next course.

  • MATH 80 – Preparatory Mathematics
    • Multi-level self-paced course - at the end of the quarter, students earn credit for the equivalent Math course that they complete (Math 81 to MATH 98)
    • Could be a pre-requisite for: MATH 81, ABE 81, MATH 84, ABE 84, MATH 85, ABE 85, MATH 97, MATH 98, ABE 98, and EET 109
