Yoga for Stress Reduction – Wednesdays 4:00pm, Room 0827A
Instructor: Melissa Allen

The purpose of this all-levels class is to help students increase mind-body awareness through meditative attention while honing strength, flexibility, and balance through yoga asana in the hatha and restorative styles. Being a student can be stressful, so this class is designed to both decrease stress and increase tolerance for stress. By aligning breath with mindful movement, we will seek to balance the autonomic nervous system which houses the fight/flight/freeze responses. Students can expect a blend of meditation, active vinyasa flow movement, and restorative, grounding postures to help release tension and increase feelings of loving-kindness and self-compassion in the body and mind. Whether you're new to yoga or a veteran practitioner, these foundational practices of breathwork, movement, and meditation are suitable tools for self-care as a student.
