ATTENTION! The SMC Studio at CC3359 is not available from December 11-14 due to moving preparation. However, other SMC services are still available at CC3360 until December 14. Thank you for your patience. We are expecting to have the new studios ready for media production services in the renovated Library Building in Winter 2023.
SMC STUDIO & RECORDING:
COLLABORATION STUDIO
Student Media Center (SMC) offers the Collaboration Studio for recording, presentation, public speaking practice, and indoor photography for individuals or group projects. The Studio includes a projector and screen, computers, desktop microphones, headphones, lighting kits, and tables for group work. The PC has Microsoft Office, Adobe CC, Audacity, OpenShot, along with other image, audio, and video editing software. All is FREE for currently enrolled North students!
Reservation is not required but recommended.
Easy steps to reserve the studio:
- Fill out the SMC studio request form
- Wait for confirmation
- Come to the SMC
Students may walk in to use the SMC studio during in-person hours, but the reservations take priority. Walk-in students may not be able to use the studio if it has been reserved.
RECORDING
The SMC offers a recording booth with a computer, desktop microphone, and headphones for use in the SMC. Students may also check out a webcam, headset, camcorder, and digital camera to record in the studio or at home.
The SMC team provides basic recording assistance as follows.
- PowerPoint recording through Microsoft Office Desktop
- Zoom recording
- OBS recording
- Recording by using a camcorder
- Recording by using a digital camera
The recording assistance is also available via email, chat, and Zoom.
