SMC STUDIOS & RECORDING:   
 

ATTENTION! The SMC Studio at the temporary location in CC3359 is closed for Winter break. We will provide services in the Studio again in Winter 2024. 

SMC Media Studio


Student Media Center (SMC) offers collaboration and media studios for students to use for class projects and college activities, such as recording, podcasts, presentations, public speaking practice, and indoor photography. The Studios include a projector, computers, an audio mixer, desktop microphones, headphones, lighting kits, and tables for individual or group work. The computers have Microsoft Office, Adobe CC, Audacity, OpenShot, along with other image, audio, and video editing software. All is FREE for currently enrolled North students!

Reservation is not required but recommended.

Easy steps to reserve the SMC studio:

  1. Reserve the studio(s) online through the SMC Bookings.
  2. Come to use the SMC studio on your reservation date/time.

Students may walk in to use the SMC studio during in-person hours, but the reservations take priority. Walk-in students may not be able to use the studio if it has been reserved.

RECORDING

The SMC offers a recording booth with a computer, desktop microphone, and headphones for use in the SMC. Students may also check out a webcam, headset, camcorder, and digital camera to record in the studio or at home.

The SMC team provides basic recording assistance as follows. 

  • PowerPoint recording through Microsoft Office Desktop
  • Zoom recording
  • OBS recording
  • Recording with yourMac computers - iMovie, QuickTime Player, Keynote
  • Recording by using your own cell phones
  • Recording by using a camcorder
  • Recording by using a digital camera
