SLC Mission & Student Learning Outcomes
The Student Learning Center (SLC) is dedicated to inspiring students at North Seattle College (NSC) to become independent, life-long learners who engage in deep inquiry and metacognitive reflection while building community through one-on-one tutoring, the tutor navigator program, academic skills workshops, and supplemental courses.
Student Learning Outcomes:
The Student Learning Center leadership team trains tutors, tutor navigators, and workshop leads on strategies top help regular users of SLC services to achieve the following two student learning outcomes.
SLC Student Learning Outcome 1
Students are able to identify gaps in their understanding and develop a strategy to address them.
SLC Student Learning Outcome 2
Students are able to ask deep rather than shallow questions in order to engage in more complex inquiry.
SLC Student Learning Outcome 3
Students will be able to converse about their learning experiences through cultural, racial, disability, and gender lenses with a focus on empathy, trauma, and self-advocacy.
