Winter-2025 Class Schedule, Information Sessions, & Exam

For the Winter-2025 quarter we are planning for two EMT Cohorts.

EMT Classes

The Winter-2025 Program Class Schedule, which begins on Jan. 6, 2025 is:

  • BLS Cohort 1, AHE 192.01. Held on Mon., 12/16/24 at 6 PM - 10 PM and Tue., 12/17/24 at 11 AM – 7 PM
  • BLS Cohort 2, AHE 192.02. Held on Thur., 12/19/24 at 6 -10 PM and Sat., 12/21/24 at 8:30 AM – 4 PM
  • EMT Cohort 1, AHE 190.01, weekly: Tues. 4 -10 PM, Thurs. 6 - 10 PM, & Sat. 8 AM-5 PM      
  • EMT Cohort 2, AHE 190.02, weekly: Mon. 11 AM - 7 PM, Thurs. 6 -10 PM, & Fri. 11AM - 7 PM

Mandatory Information Sessions

The mandatory Information Sessions will be hosted in person in room ED2843A located on the second floor of the Education Building (southeast of the North Seattle Campus), see link: https://northseattle.edu/locate-your-classroom-map. You only need to attend one of these sessions. Because this is a mandatory session, if you are more than 10 minutes late you will not be admitted to the meeting.     
Date & Time: Monday, 11/04/2024, at 12:00 pm-1:30 pm or Tuesday, 11/05/2024, at 4:00 pm-5:00 pm in ED2843A.

Mandatory Entrance Exam

The mandatory Entrance Exam duration is 90 minutes and is scheduled for two separate times to accommodate student schedules. You only need to attend one session and test one time. Both exam sessions will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, to begin either at 3 PM, 5 PM or 7 PM on campus at North Seattle College. Details for how to schedule the test with an email contact will be provided during the mandatory Information Session.

Get Started

Ready to enroll as an EMT student at North Seattle College? Check to make sure you meet the eligibility requirements and follow the instructions below.

Eligibility

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have a high school diploma, GED, high school transcript or a university diploma (exceptions can be made for Spring Running Start students in their final year of high school)
  • Must have a driver's license
  • Must pass a Washington State Criminal Background Check
  • Must be able to provide proof of immunizations
    • Measles: Two vaccines or a positive antibody titer
    • Mumps: Two immunizations or a positive antibody titer
    • Rubella: One immunization or a positive antibody titer
    • Hepatitis B
    • Tetanus-Diphtheria-Acellular Pertussis: A basic childhood series and a Tdap since 2005.
    • Varicella (Chicken Pox): A positive antibody titer or proof of two doses, at least one month apart.
    • Flu vaccine, unless there is a medical contraindication.
    • COVID vaccine
  • Must have a current Tuberculosis Screening (Tb skin test within the last 6 months minimum requirement)
  • Must attend a mandatory Information Session
  • Must successfully pass a mandatory Entrance Exam.

Class availability and choice may be limited if students apply after the mandatory test.

Steps to Enroll

  1. Apply to North Seattle College
    • Apply online to be a student at North Seattle College.  Choose Professional Technical and Allied Health (AHE) for the EMT program.
  2. Attend mandatory information session
    • Bring something to take notes. There is a lot of information to remember! This is a mandatory session; if you do not attend, you cannot take the EMT test. No exceptions.
  1. Complete the application for EMT Application
  2. Pay test fees
    • A non-refundable application fee of $35 and a Test Proctor fee of $35 must be paid to process your application. You must have an NSC student ID to pay for both. Email the Credit Card Authorization Form to the cashier or pay in person. Payment can be made with major credit or debit cards.
    • Be sure to pay these fees after you attend the mandatory session. You will not be able to take the exam until these fees are paid. Once paid, email the test proctoring fee and the receipt to emt.nsc@seattlecolleges.edu
  1. You will be notified by email within 9 calendar day
    • If you are eligible, you will be contacted with instructions on how to submit the required documents.
    • Students have to show proof of vaccinations on the first day of class.

Question: How long is the EMT program? 
Answer: It is one quarter long and consists of two classes. This is a 13 credit certificate program that is completed in one quarter. 12 credits is EMT and one credit is the co-requisite CPR class.


Question: What do I need to do to get started with the EMT program? 
Answer: You need to be a student at NSC with a ctcLink #. You can apply to be a student at NSC here. You will also need to attend a mandatory Information Session. See the EMT webpage for details on dates and times. You do not need to register to attend the info session.


Question: What are the requirements to get into the NSC-EMT Program? 
Answer: You must be at least 18 years old, you must be a high school graduate (or GED) (exceptions can be made for Running Start students in their final year of high school), and you must pass a Washington State Criminal Background Check. Additionally, you must attend a mandatory Information Session, and you must successfully pass a mandatory Entrance Exam.


Question: How much does the NSC EMT Program cost? 
Answer: The program costs approximately $1,550 - $1,600 per quarter.


Question: Is there funding available? 
Answer: Yes, some of the popular scholarships include Medic One, Tri-Med Ambulance, Seattle Promise, and Veterans benefits. Past students have also received scholarships from local tribal sources, rotary clubs, and Americorps.
