Human Development Course
Human Development Course (HDC 101) – Orientation to College Success – is an essential course to help students transition to college. The college encourages students to register for HDC 101 within the first two quarters of enrollment.
What is HDC 101?
Human Development Course (HDC101), Orientation to College Success is a 2-credit class, designed to support first-year students transition and succeed in college. The course focuses on students meeting their learning goals, navigating college resources, building financial literacy, exploring careers and creating an academic plan. Students actively connect their educational and career goals to create a meaningful and fulfilling college experience at North Seattle College.
HDC 101 Instructors
HDC 101 instructors are trained to help new-to-college students build the skills necessary to be a successful college scholar. Each section has a cap of 25 students, allowing instructors and students to build relationships and supportive connections with each other. Instructors include faculty counselors, academic advisors, and other skilled and experienced employees committed to supporting students in their transition to college. They foster an inclusive environment and invite students to show up as they are so they can learn the tools necessary to grow and excel in their studies.
