Art Gallery Monitor

Description:

  • Preparing and opening the gallery during gallery hours (Duties include unlocking door, turning on assigned lights for the current show, turning on any video, audio, etc., and insuring correct display of artwork.)
  • Overseeing the safety and security of the Art Gallery and exhibit during open hours (including asking patrons to remove backpacks and large packages while in the gallery).
  • Engaging visitors in the gallery. You will answer questions, encourage visitors to sign the guestbook, take information for possible sales, etc.
  • Helping with gallery receptions, programming, and special events and with hanging art exhibitions.
  • Answering the phone and checking gallery related emails daily.
  • Providing information, hours and directions to the gallery.
  • Helping to maintain Art Gallery e-mail list.
  • Performing general administrative duties (maintaining database, filing, data entry, etc.)
  • Creating promotional materials for shows (including flyers for exhibitions and programming)
  • Be an ambassador for the Art Gallery on campus.
  • Promoting the NSC Art Department and Art Group.
  • Punctuality (opening and closing gallery on time and returning the gallery key in a timely fashion)
  • Helping with miscellaneous small projects related to the gallery.
  • Preparing and closing the gallery at the end of the day. Duties include locking door, turning off lights, equipment, and checking artwork.
  • The ability to work remotely (with access to a computer and internet access)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Work Study Financial Aid Award
  • Computer skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suites is mandatory.
  • Demonstrates good communication skills and ability to follow though.
  • Flexible and willing to work with the shifting process of working in an art gallery.
