Discipline Description
At North, Physical Education courses involve an exploration of movement and an investigation of how to quickly respond in the event of an emergency. Human movement includes specific skills like those seen in martial arts or tennis classes, as well as fitness activities like those seen in yoga and weight training. The First Aid & Personal Safety class focuses on practical skills to help students feel comfortable during a natural disaster or when others around them become ill or injured.
Whether students are performing choreography using a step aerobics bench, walking uphill on a treadmill, shaping muscles using hand-held weights, or reviewing CPR practices on manikins, they all share a common element — advancement in lifelong learning.
