CARE Team

What is the CARE Team?

The CARE Team is a multidisciplinary group at North Seattle College that assesses concerns about students reported by members of the campus community. The team aims to promote campus safety and well-being, support students in need, and provide guidance to faculty and staff working with distressed students.

Once a report is filed, the CARE Team takes the following steps:

1. Initial Confirmation
Reports may be submitted through the CARE Reporting Form or via email at NSCCARE@seattlecolleges.edu. After a report is received, a CARE Team member will confirm receipt with the reporting party.

2. Gather Information Relevant to Report
The CARE Team collects information to better understand the student's individual circumstances. This may include academic performance, advising notes, financial aid status, and other relevant data.

3. Determine Appropriate Intervention
The team uses the NaBITA Risk Rubric (Link to Risk Assessment Tri-Fold PDF) to assess the situation and identify suitable interventions. These may range from a simple check-in with the student, to referrals for internal or external resources, to a mandated welfare evaluation.

4. Coordinate response and follow-up
A CARE Team member will be assigned to manage the response. This may involve directly contacting the student or providing guidance to faculty or staff for outreach. If additional information is needed, the assigned CARE Team member will coordinate further follow-up efforts.
