Military Credit
As a Veteran Supportive Campus and Required by the RCW 28B.10.057, North Seattle College accepts credits for military service as recommended by the American Council of Education (ACE) Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services. The awarding of academic credit for military training is intended to be used towards the student’s certificate or degree requirements. Listed below are the steps and documents you will need to request your evaluation of military credits.
- For service members and veterans of the U.S. Army, U.S Navy, U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Coast Guard please request a Joint Service Transcript (JST).
- For service members and veterans of the U.S. Air Force, please request a transcript from Air University (formerly the Community College of the Air Force).
- For service members who left the military before 1986, the College can apply credit from a notarized DD 214 form.
- Students with military training can also pursue credit attainment through other methods of approved prior learning assessment (credit by exam, portfolio, etc.). Please contact your individual department for guidance and further information.
