LSAMP (Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation) Student Manager 

Description:

LSAMP Center Manager (60%) 

  • Open and close the LSAMP Center on assigned days. Tidy the LSAMP Center as needed; check in with LSAMP staff to complete any tasks needed; ensure signage and information within the LSAMP Center is timely and up to date (e.g. Canvas, flyers around the classroom and on bulletin board); monitor supplies and notify LSAMP staff when they need to be replenished; check-out/check-in laptops, calculators, and textbooks to LSAMP students; and follow-up with students on checked-out items (by email and phone) if not returned by the end of the quarter. Answer phone calls made to the center and forward them to LSAMP navigator or director as needed.  

LSAMP Website and social media upkeep (30%) 

  • In partnership with LSAMP navigator, maintain the North Seattle College LSAMP webpage. Specifically: 
  • Ensure that the LSAMP resource page is up to date. The LSAMP resource page will highlight STEM REU, STEM Internship and STEM research and STEM and/or BIPOC scholarship opportunities. The resource page will also highlight conferences, events and professional development organizations that our students should take advantage of. 
  • Ensure LSAMP calendar of upcoming events that is displayed on our website is accurate and up to date. 
  • Update website with new and engaging material that is representative of our students and our program 
  • Leverage North Seattle College LSAMP’s public presence via social media (Instagram / TikTok/ YouTube), print (newsletter / magazine), or other proposed venue to highlight: 
  • Upcoming and ongoing LSAMP events 
  • LSAMP opportunities – Research, internships, conferences, research symposia and student ambassador opportunities 
  • LSAMP students and NSC STEM faculty 
  • Monthly featured scientist 

Professional Development (10%)

  • Provide input on/suggestions for LSAMP programming, resources, and recruitment strategies; attend LSAMP meetings to share student needs and feedback(2 - 3 hours per quarter); take opportunities to build relationships with student ambassadors, work study, and student workers from other areas of campus (e.g. TRIO, EDI, Seattle Promise, Student Leadership); assist in LSAMP Center Outreach efforts; and other development as needed.
