Working Conditions
Industrial electronics repairer technicians usually work indoors, sometimes without heating or air conditioning. Work often occurs in cramped places when repairing small or hard-to-reach equipment. Workers may be exposed to loud/distracting noises, hazardous conditions on the factory floor, or contaminants, such as chemicals leaking from equipment.
Technicians usually work a 40-hour week — days, evenings or weekends and possibly on-call. Full-time workers receive benefits.
Employment Outlook
Between 2012 and 2022, the number of jobs in Washington state is projected to increase 6 percent. There may be more jobs with baby boomer retirements, but an increasing number of jobs may also be automated.
