Job Description
Medical equipment repairers — also known as healthcare technology management (HTM) technicians — maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, test and repair a wide variety of therapeutic and diagnostic equipment used in hospitals and other medical environments.
HTM technicians may work on physiological monitoring systems, defibrillators, medical imaging equipment (x-rays, CAT scanners and ultrasound equipment), voice-controlled operating tables, electric wheelchairs, hemodialysis machines, EKGs, lasers and sterilizers, as well as other sophisticated dental, optometric and ophthalmic equipment. Whereas some HTM technicians are trained to fix a wide variety of equipment, others specialize and become proficient at repairing one or a small number of complex machines.
