Program Overview
Degrees & Certificates
Two-year, job-training degrees that prepare students for immediate employment. Students take additional general education electives, making this a good option if you intend to transfer to a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree program or may attend a university in the future to earn a bachelor’s degree.

Learn Fundamentals, Upgrade Skills or Prepare for Specialized Jobs in IT
North’s Information Technology (IT) program leads to degrees and certificates in areas ranging from hardware engineering to software development, application support and system administration. Students who are new to information technology can explore career pathways through our programs. Likewise, students already experienced in information technology can work toward updated certificates and study recent trends in selected technical concentrations. North’s Information Technology programs are open to all. Students can start most course sequences with minimal prerequisite classes and can advance toward graduation through both online and campus-based courses.
Programs
North currently offers three two-year associate degrees, pathways to two Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) degrees, and several one-year and two-year technical certificate programs. Many of our certificates are stackable, meaning students who begin their studies with a short-term certificate can roll those same credits into longer term certificates or degree programs. Below is a list of the degree and certificate programs offered in Information Technology at North.
Degrees
- Associate of Applied Sciences (A.A.S.) in IT Controlled Electronics (two-year degree)
- Associate of Applied Sciences (A.A.S.) in Network and Server Administration (two-year degree)
- Application Development AAS-T (two-year transfer degree)
- Bachelor of Applied Sciences (B.A.S.) in Application Development

Pathways
North’s Information Technology programs are arranged in career pathways. These pathways allow students to move from beginning to advanced work in specialized areas leading to career opportunities in highly demanded technical fields.
North’s IT pathways include courses of study in software development, IT controlled electronics and network system administration. Students considering careers in software development should begin with our certificate in Web Application Technologies, followed by our associate degree in Application Development AAS-T. This A.A.S.-T degree will prepare you to enter North’s B.A.S. in Application Development.
Students interested in network-controlled electronic devices such as drones, sensors and automated machinery should start with our certificate in IT Controlled Electronics followed by our associate degree in IT Controlled Electronics.
Students who elect a pathway in network and server administration can begin with any of our short-term certificates in Linux or Windows Network administration.
