Description:
North Seattle College operates two food pantries:
North Star student food pantry, a grocery shopping experience, enrolled students can shop once a week for food pantry items, located across from the Grove in the College Center
The Community Food Pantry a weekly pop-up grocery distribution in partnership with the University District Food Bank. This pantry is open to students, staff, and the community on Tuesdays from 4-7pm and is operated in the garage beneath the Opportunity Center
The maximum number of hours is 7.5 per week. The minimum number of hours is 4. Work schedule will be determined quarterly.
North Star Student Food Pantry Duties include:
- Assure safety and cleanliness in pantry, monitor refrigerator temperatures, review best buy dates and inventory, compost expired fresh product, tear down cardboard boxes, plastic in recycling
- Sign-in and checkout student shoppers, bag their groceries
- Support stocking and re-stocking procedures
- Set-up and take down Food Pantry signage
- Share community resources related to food
Community Food Pantry Duties include:
- Set-up - move tables and other equipment into the pantry space, help unload the UDFB food van
- Create bags of produce and break down boxes
- Distribute groceries to the community at a drive-through and/or walk-up station
- Break-down - load supplies and boxes back into the van, return tables to storage and help clean the site

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be taking at least 3 credit hours during fall, winter, and spring quarter
Ability to engage with our community and staff using conversational English skills
Meet all Work Study requirements according to the Office of Financial Aid
