If you want to work for a company that conducts business with another country, or if you already work in the trade and logistics field, the IB B.A.S. can prepare you for a new career or allow you to enhance your skills.

The program leverages existing business/accounting coursework and experience and add upper-division courses that provide a well-rounded business skillset with an international focus. You will be prepared for a globally-focused career in management, sales, scheduling, finance, manufacturing, marketing, and freight forwarding.

Jobs in international business/trade/commerce in the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue Metro counties are projected to grow 5.3 percent (from 2017 - 2027) with median earnings of $32.75/hour. Meeting a Local Need for Qualified Workers

Washington needs workers qualified in international trade. The state is the most trade-dependent area in the country, with roughly one in three jobs directly or indirectly related to trade. The greater Seattle area generates three-fourths of all exported goods and services in the state, with major employers like Boeing, Microsoft, Starbucks, Port of Seattle, and Amazon, as well as scores of import-export companies.

Pursuing a Master’s Degree

The International Business B.A.S. degree is a regionally accredited bachelor’s degree. Graduates of the IB B.A.S. degree can pursue a master’s degree after graduating with the IB B.A.S. degree. Many of the required courses in the IB B.A.S. degrees including accounting, business, and economics meet entry requirements for MBA programs.

The IB B.A.S. program currently has admission agreements with:

• Seattle Pacific University’s graduate business programs including their MBA
• City University of Seattle’s MBA program
• Central Washington University’s Masters of IT and Administrative Management

These programs have examined the IB B.A.S. curriculum and encourage IB B.A.S. students to join their programs. Additionally, several IB B.A.S. graduates have pursued Master’s degrees in business, supply chain, logistics, and accounting at universities including the University of Washington and Washington State University. Completion of the IB B.A.S. degree does not guarantee acceptance into a master’s program.
