Norma Jenner (she/ her)

Norma has been an educator for over 20 years and is currently an Academic Advisor for Humanities, Social Science, Languages, and Biological/Environmental Sciences students and Transfer Coordinator in North’s general Academic Advising office. Her educational philosophy centers around the belief that we are all bearers of knowledge, storytellers, mathematicians, scientists, artists, and neurodiverse lifelong learners. She is passionate about increasing access to education and nurturing students to become skilled individuals able to use their unique voice to positively impact their communities.

She has a Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) from Antioch University where she focused on culturally sustaining pedagogy for experiential learning. Before that, she earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Geography from the University of Washington focused on spatial implications of systems of power and educational justice. She attended other colleges along the way and has firsthand experience with some of the challenges that students can encounter while persevering towards a college degree.

In her free time, she loves connecting with the natural world. She has a small backyard urban farm, spends as much time as possible in the woods and on the beach, and has extensive experience in outdoor education and environmental restoration. And ask her about NCAA volleyball!
