Jordan Veniegas is a dedicated indigenous social worker committed to empowering and uplifting marginalized communities. Born and raised on the island of O’ahu, Jordan is deeply rooted in his Native Hawaiian, Filipino, Japanese, and Portuguese cultures forming his rich tapestry of heritages.

With a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, specializing in Child and Family, Jordan has honed his skills in supporting individuals and families facing adversity. His academic journey also includes a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Psychology from the University of Hawai’i at West O’ahu and an Associates of Liberal Arts from Leeward Community College.

Before joining North Seattle College, Jordan gained valuable experiences (and life lessons) working at local non-profits supporting Hawaii’s families who were experiencing homelessness and Co-facilitating interpersonal violence (IPV) groups for mandated male participants. Additionally, his work with Hale Kipa allowed him to support Hawaii’s foster youth and young adults in recognizing their innate strengths and navigating challenges,
such as homelessness, mental health, and financial instability.

Driven by a deep commitment to social justice, Jordan is dedicated to dismantling oppressive systems and advocating for the rights and visibility of LGBTQ2SIA+ communities. Recognizing the transformative power of higher education, while acknowledging the unique challenges and barriers students face, he strives to foster an
inclusive and supportive environment in all professional and community settings. He is  eager to connect with students, listen and learn from their stories, and work collaboratively to build a strong and supportive community.

Outside of work, Jordan enjoys life's simple pleasures, including sleeping in on the weekends, laughing with friends and family, and listening to the healing sounds of ocean waves crashing on the shores. He also finds enjoyment in binge watching Asian dramas and anime, trying out new sushi joints around town, and exploring his creative side through photography by capturing the dynamic beauties of this world.
