Valid Photo ID for Placement Tests & Proctored Exams

  • • Math and English Placement Test
  • • ESL (English as a Second Language) Tests
  • • Proctored exams for students receiving testing accommodations for a disability
  • • Proctored exams for students from other colleges

On the test day, you must bring a current, valid photo ID card from this list or you cannot take the test:

  • • North student ID card
  • • Washington state ID card
  • • Washington state Driver’s License          
  • • Washington state Driver's Permit
  • • State ID, Driver’s License or Driver’s Permit from another U.S. state
  • • Green card (U.S. Permanent Resident Card)
  • • U.S. Military ID
  • • U.S. Passport
  • • Student ID card from another U.S. school
  • • Passport from another country (the Testing staff must be able to easily identify the information on the passport)

Paper copies of ID are not accepted (except unexpired official Temporary Washington State Driver’s License, Permit or ID Cards). Paper copies of an I-94 form are not accepted as valid ID for ESL testing or other testing. All photo ID must be in English (except a passport from another country). The photo ID cannot be EXPIRED. Your name on the photo ID card or passport needs to match the name on your application and on the North Seattle College computer system. 

 Valid Photo ID for GED Examinations

When completing the GED test registration packet, you must show:

  • 1. one valid photo ID from the list below,
  • 2. AND a second piece of ID with your name imprinted on it and your signature (the second piece of ID does not need to have a photo on it). Some examples of the second piece of signed ID are a student ID card, a Social Security card, a credit card or a second ID from the list below*. 

On the test day, you  must bring a current, valid photo ID card from the following list  of official government-issued ID or you cannot take the test. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this policy.

  • • Washington state ID card
  • • Washington state Driver’s License
  • • Washington state Driver’s Permit
  • • State ID, Driver’s License or Driver’s Permit from another U.S. state
  • • Green card (U.S. Permanent Resident Card)
  • • U.S. Military ID
  • • U.S. Passport
  • • Passport from another country (the Testing staff must be able to easily identify the information on the passport)

*Since the purpose of the second ID is to verify your signature with the one on the first ID and on your registration paperwork, you cannot use a Temporary Washington State ID Card, Driver’s License or Permit if your first piece of ID was the permanent copy of the same ID.
