Certified Public Accounting
Job Description

Accountants (many of whom are certified public accountants or CPAs) analyze and communicate financial information for companies, individual clients and government entities, including tax documentation and advising, compensation and benefit advising, and auditing. Many accountants do budget analyses, asset management and investment planning.

Accountants may be self employed, work for public accounting firms, work at not-for-profit organizations or in the public sector at federal, state or local government agencies. They may work in forensics (combining knowledge of finance and law) or as internal auditors (to verify organizational procedures and regulations), or as management accountants (helping the companies they work for make sound business decisions).
