North’s education in nanotechnology can lead to:
• transfer to UW nanotechnology program.
• jobs in nanotechnology startups.
The National Science Foundation has estimated that 2 million workers will be needed to support nanotechnology industries worldwide within 15 years. The current economy remains positive for the nanotechnology field because nanotechnology is new, in demand and interdisciplinary.
Start-ups are getting national funding in the Seattle area from the National Science Foundation. The Pacific Northwest is the nanotechnology hub, because of the presence of these companies and UW’s unique Center for Nanotechnology.
