College Transfer
Transfer Degree Requirements

The Associate of Arts (AA), Associate in Business (AB), and Associate of Science (AS) degrees are all Direct Transfer Agreements (DTA) and are designed to help you transfer more easily to four-year colleges or universities.

While earning a DTA degree does not guarantee that you will be accepted into the four-year college or university of your choice, it does ensure that you have met many of the general education requirements needed at many universities. In addition, most universities in Washington state give benefits to students who have completed a DTA degree, such as priority admission, waiver of general education requirements and automatic admisson at junior standing.

Associate of Arts (AA)

The AA degree is intended for students expecting to transfer to a four-year college/university and pursue a liberal arts major in areas such as humanities, literature, political science, psychology or sociology.

Associate in Business (AB)

The AB degree is designed for students intending to transfer to a four-year college/university and major in business administration, accounting, marketing or finance.

Associate of Science (AS)

The AS degrees are intended for students who plan to transfer into a science-related area.

AS degree options:

  • • General AS degree (AS-DTA) - This is a good option for students considering science majors that do not require more than 40 credits of prerequisite math and science classes.
  • • AS degree option #1 (AS-1) - This is a good option for students who intend to major in chemistry or biological science that requires at least 65 credits of math and science.
  • • AS degree option #2 (AS-2) - This is a good option for students who intend to major in engineering or physics that requires at least 65 credits of math and science requirements.

Please talk with your academic advisor to identify which degree will be the best fit for your academic goals.
